The 5 Best Rice Cookers for One Person

Cooking for one does not mean you want one tiny bowl of rice every time. Some people make a single serving tonight; others cook three uncooked cups and keep leftovers for tomorrow. That is why I would read the *uncooked* capacity, minimum batch, cleaning instructions and keep-warm behavior before buying the smallest machine on the shelf. A pressure model can be useful, but it takes more room and more money than a simple switch cooker.

The Micom is my pick for a solo cook who makes rice often enough to use its programs. The simpler Zojirushi and Aroma are easier purchases for plain rice, while the Dash saves the most space. The Cuckoo only earns its higher cost when pressure cooking is a daily preference, not because one person needs a premium machine.

01 — Zojirushi

Best flexible solo cooker

Zojirushi Micom 3-Cup

4.7/5Amazon
$183.97In Stock

If you eat rice often and change varieties, this 3-cup Micom gives one person room to make dinner and tomorrow’s lunch. Its menu-driven cooking offers more control than a single-switch model.

It leads because small capacity does not force you into a one-portion appliance. The price and longer menu routine are hard to justify if all you make is occasional plain white rice.

02 — Zojirushi

Best simple three-cup cooker

Zojirushi 3-Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer

4.5/5Amazon
$59.99In Stock

The simpler Zojirushi is for someone who wants to measure rice, add water and press a switch. Its included steam-tray format can help make a small meal rather than just a bowl of rice.

I rank it second for that straightforward routine. It gives up the Micom’s program flexibility, so check how often you cook brown or mixed rice before choosing the cheaper path.

03 — CUCKOO

Best premium small pressure cooker

Cuckoo CRP-MHTR0309F

4.3/5Amazon
$406.43In Stock

Cuckoo is the indulgent option for a one-person kitchen where rice is a daily staple. Its 3-cup capacity combines with a listed induction-and-pressure cooking system.

It is third because that specialized cooking approach comes with a much higher bill and a pressure-lid cleaning routine. I would buy it only if those features matter more than simplicity.

AROMA® Rice Cooker, 3-Cup (Uncooked) / 6-Cup (Cooked), Small Rice Cooker, Oatmeal Cooker, Soup Maker, Auto Keep Warm, 1.5 Qt, White, ARC-363NG product image from Amazon

04 — AROMA

Best low-cost small batch

Aroma 3-Cup Rice Cooker

4.5/5Amazon
$25.95In Stock

Aroma covers the practical case: a small rice cooker with a keep-warm function at an accessible price. For a student or solo household, that may be all the useful automation needed.

It sits fourth because the low price buys fewer controls than the models above. Verify the exact dry-rice capacity and clean the inner pot promptly rather than relying on keep-warm indefinitely.

05 — DASH

Best for the smallest portions

Dash Mini Rice Cooker

4.4/5Amazon
$24.99In Stock

Dash Mini earns a place if counter and storage space are the main constraints. Its listed 2-cup format suits a truly small meal better than a family pot.

It finishes fifth because miniature capacity is restrictive once you meal-prep or cook for a guest. Check the measurement used in the listing before assuming two cups means two full dinners.
